THE CHILDREN OF LAS TORRES, NICARAGUA
It means so much to the kids to be able to attend school and they know they’re only allowed to attend because of the generous giving of people like you. Children are enrolled in the hope of being sponsored. One child asked his teacher, “Will I be able to finish the school year if I don’t have a sponsor like other children?”
The old school was closed in 2007 and the kids were sent home. But, thanks to God’s grace and the generosity of people like you, CALT obtained a temporary building at the last minute to start the new school year on time. However, the temporary location had dirt floors and leaky roofs. By the grace of God once again, a proper building became available down the street and the kids were moved to it.
One of the children said to a missionary, “I’m so happy to be in a school where you’re making things better for me all the time."
Under the leadership of the old school, parents were not allowed to participate in the education process. Parents are required to help under the new administration. One of them told the principal, “I’m proud to help out at the school because I feel a part of things and important."
